TRANSITION

An announcement on behalf of the European Thyroid Association

The European Thyroid Association is delighted to announce that we have taken the decision to convert the European Thyroid Journal from a subscription journal to a fully open-access model. This will remove all barriers to accessing published research, and ensure the long-term sustainability of the journal.

Open-access publishing:

  • allows greater discoverability
  • allows your research to reach further, faster
  • promotes data and knowledge sharing
  • increases impact.

In order to fund open-access publishing, expenses such as peer review, journal production, online hosting and archiving are covered by an Article Publication Charge (APC). The APC for European Thyroid Journal is a competitive €2000, with members of the European Thyroid Association entitled to an additional 40% discount, a saving of €800. We encourage you to keep submitting your best work to the European Thyroid Journal and take advantage of this generous discount. A portion of the profit from the journal is fed back to the European Thyroid Association to fund research, events and grants to support our members.

Alongside the change to an open-access publishing model, we have begun an exciting new collaboration with the established society publisher, Bioscientifica, who will officially become the new publisher of European Thyroid Journal from 1st January 2022.

Any new submissions to European Thyroid Journal will be handled by Bioscientifica from 29th March 2021 and, once accepted, will be published on an open-access basis, with the publisher transition phase being completed at the end of 2021.

Existing authors:
All articles published in the journal (Volumes 1–10) will continue to be archived and searchable. For all queries related to content published within this period, please contact Karger directly at etj@karger.com

Articles published in 2021 will be made freely available at the end of the year.

New authors:
Starting from Volume 11, the journal will be published by Bioscientifica. To accommodate this, all articles submitted for consideration by the European Thyroid Journal will be processed by the journal’s new submissions system – ScholarOne – from 29th March 2021.

Please ensure you consult the new Author Guidelines prior to any submission, and contact the journal editorial office if you have any specific questions.

For full details of the journal’s new open-access policy please visit the Open Access Policy page.
